This time last year we were excited to announce that we had 13 nests on the platform, as of today, we are at 136!
Last year we banded 110 adults, 85 of them are back!
Life is getting busy on tern raft but what is important to remember, this is simply a stop gap to a very large problem in our coastal bays. Bird habitat locations have significantly diminished and our coastal bird populations as well due to significant island loss.
We will be covering more on this in the coming weeks.
Island restoration is truly the only hope to save our bay birds!
