January 29 @ 6:00 pm

Maryland Coastal Bays Program will host a public meeting on the Jenkins Point Restoration Project on Monday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Clubhouse Meeting Room on 100 Clubhouse Drive.

MCBP held a public meeting on the subject last May, and the Jan. 29 meeting will serve as an update, including presentation of a revised project design for which community feedback will be solicited.

Steve Farr, the Watershed Coordinator for Maryland Coastal Bays Program, said Jenkins Point is on the Isle of Wight Bay, just offshore of the Ocean Pines Yacht Club. He said the area has seen significant erosion, reducing the resilience of the fragmented peninsula and the adjacent mainland community infrastructure, including the Yacht Club, the Osprey Point condominium community and the Pines Point residential community and marina to the increasing effects of climate change.

MCBP received a grant in 2022 from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to fund the design and permitting phase of the restoration project. Construction of the project will require additional funding.

The meeting will be recorded and available for viewing later through the Ocean Pines website, oceanpines.org.
