Keeping our bays clean for everyone with a foot, fin, or flipper- and everything in between!
Adopt Your Street, a partnership between the Maryland Coastal Bays and Ocean City Surf Club, is an extension of the Adopt Your Beach program. After its debut in early 2016, Adopt Your Beach has reduced coastal waste and improved the experience of tourists, locals, and wildlife alike.
Adopt Your Street shifts focus to the bayside streets to reduce litter that enters our coastal bays. By removing bay-bound litter from the streets, we improve the health of wildlife, our fellow humans, and the overall function of the ecosystem. We also instill feelings of pride and ownership in local residents as we learn about and care for our coastal bays.
By committing to at least 4 cleanups per year, participants will:
- Maintain clean, litter-free streets in Ocean City to prevent trash from entering our waterways
- Raise public awareness about clean beaches and bays
- Collect statistical data on debris found
Help us create a litter-free Ocean City. You will learn valuable scientific processing skills while contributing statistical information to the Maryland Coastal Bays and Ocean City Surf Club. This helps us develop solutions to protect coastal resources, and so that we can enjoy our extraordinary bayscape for years to come.
Let's keep our bays clean for everyone with a foot, fin, or flipper – and everything in between!
